Two Way Street : free ebook

I think I read too many historical romance already, so when I found a good teen lit, Gosh, it was such a refreshing change.
It's about a broken up couple going on a road trip to college.
A three-day road trip.
It's pretty witty, told from both the girl's and boy's perspectives.
So it's like a less harsh, longer, funnier version of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.

Here's the summary..

There are two sides to every breakup.

This is Jordan and Courtney, totally in love. Sure, they were an unlikely high school couple. But they clicked; it worked. They're even going to the same college, and driving cross-country together for orientation.

Then Jordan dumps Courtney -- for a girl he met on the Internet.

It's too late to change plans, so the road trip is on. Courtney's heartbroken, but figures she can tough it out for a few days. La la la -- this is Courtney pretending not to care.

But in a strange twist, Jordan cares. A lot.

Turns out, he's got a secret or two that he's not telling Courtney. And it has everything to do with why they broke up, why they can't get back together, and how, in spite of it all, this couple is destined for each other.

Fairy Tales

I absolutely adore fairy tales, regardless how cynical I can be about its existence (or lack thereof) in real life.

Ella Enchanted, Cinderella Story, Ever After, and Sidney White.
My fave movies; some of them are modern day fairy tale.

This week I revisited our love-hate thing relationship (between me and fairy tales) by watching my kid sister's dvd (like any other lil girlies, she's crazy about Barbie and Princesses, her fave is 'Princess in pink' which by the way is actually Sleeping Beauty). Snow White to be precisely.
I know. Totally cheesy. It's abso-fucking-lutely ridiculous that she sang all the time. Oh, and what about the Grumpy Dwarf? There's nothing cute about dwarfs. I mean, eww. They had beard and crinkly face, seriously.

Snow White's never been my favorite story. I only saw it once before, like in the fourth grade or something. She doesn't even look that attractive to me (consider the irony when she's supposed to be the fairest of them all). I like Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast better. Belle, Aurora, and dear ol' Cindie are way much prettier, I think. Snow White had this round face and chubby cheek. Stupid hair. And the dress too (like any girl who wears cape doesn't look ridiculous?).
Ah, well.
But there's this scene where Snow White sang into the wishing well surrounded by even way stupider singing birds. It was so corny, except that I fell for what she said.

"I'm wishing/ for the one I love/ to find me/ today..."

Gosh. I don't know, but I just felt like weeping.

I may be a cynical woman who gave up 'true love' and 'happily ever after' long ago (Gee, I feel like I'm a forty year old hag instead of the bubbly seventeen year old girl about town I'm supposed to be. Ah, well. I've never been that bubbly to begin for), but at heart I'm still hoping-no, dreaming about them.

The reason why I'm crazy for fairy tales; or any love story, really; is that they showed me something that might have been existed, however long ago, despite they're man-made fictions.

True love.

God, now I've turned mushy.

Anyways, I also happen to
read these amazing novel (ebook, to be precise) by Alex Flinn.

Beastly and A Kiss in Time.
A modern day Beauty and The Beast and Sleeping Beauty with twists.
The thing is, it's not just any fairy tales retelling.
Although set in today's Manhattan and Miami; they still have the magic.
The beast. The princess form a different time.
And they're funny.
Like in beastly, the estranged hot high schooler-turned-beast joined this chatroom consisted of people that's also turned by magic. Like the frog-turned-prince, mermaid-turned-human, and so on.
Oh, and the most important...
True love.

P.S. to download the ebook (much cheaper than buying the paperback, you can see it first then decide to buy, like i did) just click the books' title, kay.
Kisses...
